Abstract

Emphasizes Saint Francis of Assisi for the understanding of Franciscan joy and poverty and its influences on Italian culture in the 13th and 14th centuries. It investigates the concepts of joy and poverty in the writings of Saint Francis and in the other writings of the Franciscan Sources and the dictionary of the area. It presents the figure of Saint Francis in the works of Dante and Giotto, representatives of Italian culture in the 13th and 14th centuries, exposing a brief consideration of the presence of the double Franciscan concept in the poetic and pictorial works of the artists, based on a recent work by M. Cacciari.
